Blaise de Montluc, 1525 (GiM 75)
£4.00
Montluc first made his name when, as a Gascon gentleman volunteer, he skilfully led a fighting rear guard of crossbowmen (and a handful of arquebusiers) covering a French army’s retreat in the foothills of the Pyrenees. This outstanding feat of arms won him his captaincy at the age of only 20 and can be said to have set him on a path to greatness.
He later rose to be a Marshal of France in the Wars of Religion and is best known to posterity through his famous Commentaires.
Monluc is ideal as a leader for Never Mind the Billhooks Italia.
