We’ve focused on bringing together our Pulp and Peninsular War themes recently. Each of those issues are just about done, waiting on their timelier regulars such as product reviews. Once those are added the magazines will get signed off and head to the printers. You can see some page previews below. I (Project Manager James) designed a ‘Nazis on the Moon’ mini-campaign for the Pulp issue, played with the 02 Hundred Hours rules but easily switched to other systems. There are tweaks to add low gravity, a soundless environment, and some sci-fi weapon modifications. I also adjusted various scenarios so players can take a group of elite Brits across the dark side of the moon, sabotage a Nazi robot factory on their way, locate a super weapon aimed at London, and then attempt to destroy it. It wasn’t just wargame design that was needed to make this article work. The other half of our magazine’s title - ‘Illustrated’ - had to be represented in the accompanying photos. I created terrain and scatter to play over and converted some miniatures to use, all themed to the pulp world. Designing and creating that lot certainly kept me busy, as did painting, but it made for a totally unique campaign of my own creation. It was great fun bringing this article together; I hope you get plenty of enjoyment in taking on your own moon adventures. There are many more possibilities with the basic rule modifications I suggest! Causing a Ruckus! We had some visitors recently for Billhooks gaming in the office. Billhooks author Andy Callan and his brother Ian were present but leading proceedings was keen Billhooker and figure painting maestro Mike Peters. He umpired a smaller, skirmish-level encounter, using new rules that he’s been developing and his own lovely figures. These rules, currently called Ruckus, are ideal for anyone wanting to play smaller-scale late Medieval games. We’ll have more about Mike’s game in later issues but for now, here’s a little peek at the action. From the article holding pattern We’ve got a preview of an article that’s not yet found its place in the schedule to finish off this Insider Insight. In 'Where did you get that hat?',
