We’ve made it our monthly mission to pull back the curtain and show off the goings-on at WiHQ; we’ve decided to make this edition of Insider Insight a multimedia spectacular to reveal more than mere words and photos could! The video below shows behind-the-scenes footage of the team putting tabletop setups together for photos that will end up in the magazine. Check out our near-constant use of painted bark, the terrain essential no mini photographer can live without, in Parthian Shot, Fallen Timber, and Raising the Dead shoots. There are also spins of some goodies we plucked out of the Wi terrain collection and a few figures from Mike Peters' beautiful Billhooks collection. https://www.wargamesillustrated.net/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Insider%20Insight%20-%20March%202023%20Preview%20Video.mp4 Articles ready to go The best-laid plans for magazine themes and freebies have a habit of changing without warning. Wi424, which lands in the Vault next week, was set to be a totally different issue until a mere week before our sign-off date (when the issue gets sent to the printers). A last-minute “we can get the Epic Pike & Shotte frames sorted” call from Warlord rightly scuppered plans (for the better) and thus we shifted our Hit and Run theme to land later in the year and had to shift some Gamechanger articles about. We often have a ‘bank’ of articles waiting in the wings for future publication, some of which fall into a ‘state of eternal shunting’. One such article is a look at Mike Peters’ wonderful Wars of the Roses Billhooks armies (sorry Mike) so we decided to show off some of its photos here along with the video spins. The Swamp Fox leaves his den! Another article that we’ve got ready to go examines the background and gaming possibilities of Frances Marion in the American War of Independence. James suggests various battle ideas for Marion’s Men to take on and presents a ‘what if?’ scenario that involves the Swamp Fox himself. Need a mini to represent this intriguing character? Have no fear, we’ve got you covered. Sculpts of him on foot (planning his next attack) and mounted (riding into the fray) will be available as STL downloads to all WiPrime Members and will be produced at a later date as white metal Giants in Miniature figures too! That’s just about all for this month. We’ll be back in April, just before we head to Salute 2023, with more Insider Insight but as a final extra... *things explode* "Flash by name, Flash by nature. HOORAY!"
