There’s much excitement in the Wi world as we bring together our next issue and prepare to send it to be printed. Sometimes this is a last-minute scramble with new articles or products sneaking in but this issue’s theme - Revisited - means there’s not such an opportunity for newness. Various authors look back at past projects and shine a new light on them or reminisce about happy hobby times. It’s a nostalgic issue but also one where we blow the dust off those old projects and commit to getting them updated. Below are a few previews of what’s to come in that issue - Wi428. Looking ahead further, we’re also working with Jervis Johnson and the Perrys to update their popular freebie ruleset Valour and Fortitude. This revisit will be included with a future issue (probably Wi430 on V&F’s one-year anniversary) and is a full 16-pager. The rules are refined rather than reinvented; the extra pages allow for more clarification and examples of play. There will be a battle report and other supporting articles in the issue too. Inspired by recent sci-fi gaming in the office, playing Stargrave and Mars: Code Aurora, we’ve got some objectives lined up for release on WiDigital. Some are printed already (see below) and others are being supported, ready to get printed, painted and hit our gaming table. That’s not all for WiDigital; there are more Billhooks Theatre leaders in the works along with markers, 3D tokens, and other accessories for our Wars of the Roses (and beyond) late-Medieval large skirmish game. Other areas are covered by our digital plans too including the Cuban Revolution, AWI swamplands, Wild West, and Pulp WWII battles on the moon! We are still, primarily, a magazine and that means articles – lots of ‘em! Here are some photos that were taken for upcoming pieces that will hit the pages of Wi through the rest of 2023.
