We’ve encountered a good problem whilst sorting out the content for recent issues of Wargames Illustrated - it’s tough to fit everything we’ve got into each issue! There are some great submissions from contributors ready to go but they keep on getting pushed back due to new releases or more timely articles having to be slotted into earlier issues. This means that a digital pile of great articles is stacking up. Olaf the Forgetful and the Watlington Hoard - a piece inspired by the finding of lost treasure hoards across the country - has been bumped for two issues now. Operation Ikarus - a Bolt Action ‘what if?’ campaign that sees the Axis and Allies fighting over Iceland - is another that we’re eager to run but has been pushed to the next month twice. Rupert’s Jungle Jaunt features some wonderful Barry Hilton photos, along with his always intriguing gaming ideas, but couldn’t fit into the last issue we signed off. Regimenting the Dead, where our former painter Callum France takes skirmish figures from Warlord’s Sláine game and ranks them up, has been ready to go for around a year and is our current ‘most delayed’ article. It's great to have these (and more) waiting to go but it’s a little frustrating that such awesome articles are waiting in the wings, unseen. With that in mind, we’re going to start uploading a random preview piece to accompany each Insider Insight for our WiPrime Members. Your ‘advanced screening’ this month is Regimenting the Dead! The final Billhooks Theatre Leaders If you’ve enjoyed the four Billhooks Theatre leaders we’ve released already, you’ll be pleased as punch to hear that two more - Great Darcy of the Pale and Little Jock Elliot – are ready to go. These finish off the set of leaders but we’re not stopping there. We have plans for some Boathooks-themed figures and other unique late Medieval combatants to come. Most of these will be a 2024 release but we might be able to sneak out some more Billhooks goodies as the new year approaches. Pulp ahead Unless anything drastic happens Wi431, our November issue, will have a pulp theme. We’ve already got an intro piece from Chris Swan (who recently released his take on pulp gaming - Tales of Derring Do), an exclusive scenario for 7TV: Dracula from designer Claire Bolton, and a David Bickley piece based around Blandings Castle. Wi’s James (that’s me!) is also playtesting a WWII pulp adventure that will be included. It sees Brits landing on the dark side of the moon on a covert mission to take out a Nazi supergun they’ve nicknamed Hitler’s Ego. This mini-campaign is built around 02 Hundred Hours’
