Take a tour through the Vault and read some classic Wi articles. Wargames Illustrated 372 - October 2018 This issue's theme sends readers through The Ten Years War in Cuba, The American-Philippino War, The Third Ashanti War, The Malayan Emergency, and The Second Chimurenga. While these might not be the most played periods there's a lot of appeal in exploring the less well-known conflicts from history, as these 'Bush War' articles prove. As smaller figure count games have become even more popular in the five years since this issue's publication there's now going to be even more opportunity to play such battles and a whole host of extra rulesets to use. We love to run articles on more obscure conflicts such as these ones but it can sometimes be tricky to scavenge miniatures to use in photos. If you're reading this and have an army that goes far outside of the main periods and conflicts why not have a go at writing an article about it, taking some photos, and sending them through to us as a contribution? Wargames Illustrated 252 - October 2008 Back another ten years and this issue begins with another less-played conflict - the First Balkan War. Ignore the title, Bob Black actually examines the Battle of Lule Burgas in his deep dive. Paul Leach's look at the Battle of Rometta has some smashing photos taken by then-Editor Duncan and current Editor Dan and is a scenario that you can still happily have a go at if you blow the dust off your copy of Warhammer Ancient Battles. 'An invitation to the American Civil War part two' (if you missed part one you can, of course, find that in the Vault too) is another great-looking article with photos by Cyrille Barillot and Alan Perry. For anyone who wants to start playing the ACW, this is a great starter. If you're going to play this period then some snake rail fencing will be essential; Paul Davies' 'How To ...' will show you how!
