Take a tour through the Vault and read some classic Wi articles. Wargames Illustrated 373 - November 2018 We begin our journey through the Vault with a jump to five years ago and an issue with one of Artist Neil Roberts' favourite bits of cover artwork that he's done for us. This issue was a celebration of 100 years since the end of WWI and it took a look at Poland across a broader timeframe for its theme. Bill Grey starts things off with Hussars, Vincent W Rospond (whose company is Winged Hussar Publishing) gives an overview of Poland in the Napoleonic period and WWI, and Dom Sore examines the 303 Squadron in WWII as well as Monte Cassino. Elsewhere, Gary Faulkner (see more from him soon in Wi) has a great guide to distressing MDF buildings, there's gladiatorial combat in Sons of Mars, apocalyptic gaming from Paul Leach, and more apocalypse with Ash Barker who writes a Designer's Notes for his Last Days zombie game. A huge range of exciting content that is as interesting today as it was five years ago and that's what's so great about diving into the Vault! Wargames Illustrated 313 - November 2013 Michael Perry showed off a table packed with his Franco-Prussian War miniatures at the Other Partizan in October (coverage is coming in Wi432), so now's a great time to look back at our issue from ten years ago and its FPW theme. Before that, though, let's take a pause to recognise the ten-year anniversary of the passing of the legendary Donald Featherstone with an article penned by Chris Scott that examines how he inspired generations of wargamers. He'd probably have wanted everyone to get back to wargaming so we'll do that here! Gerard Miller kicks things off with a look at the Battle of Sedan and broader details about the conflict and armies. In 'Dashed Hopes' David Tuck heads to a different battle - Wörth - and the events are presented with some inspiring photos. The FPW's largest clash - the Battle of Gravelotte - is also visited and there's an outdated but still useful figure roundup too. If terrain's your thing then David Marshall's 'Building of the Alamo' is an article you won't want to miss; it features some great tips and some serious eye candy too. As well as that there's ACW artillery, competition-winning paint jobs from Historicon, game design chat from Alessio Cavatore, and more.
